ASEAN at the Pittsburgh G20

Because Thailand chairs ASEAN this year, Thailand's prime minister was invited to the G20 Summit in Pittsburgh to represent the countries of ASEAN.  On a case-by-case basis, regional groupings are represented  at G20 meetings.  For example, the president of the European Union gets to attend.  But Muammar Gadhafi, who is  chairman of the African Union, was not invited.  (Africa was represented at the G20 mainly by South Africa).

Indonesia's president Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono attended.  As world's forth most populous nation, Indonesia is a full member of the G20 group.

JotASEAN photographer Tawan captured some shots of Thai Prime Minister Abhisit (seated), ASEAN President Surin (standing right) and Thai trade representative Kiat at the G20 summit in Pittsburgh.

More of Tawan's photos from the summit have been posted here and here.
